About Us
We have remodeled our larger kennels and converted them to indoor/outdoor boarding, your dog has the option of playing in the yard or can go inside for quiet time to recharge their play batteries. In the evening time all overnight dogs are enclosed in the climate controlled area to ensure their comfort and safety. We have large multi dog suites that give them plenty of room during their stay.
We also provide open air doggy day camp, where your pets can run and play with other dogs, similar to their size and temperament.
Owner, Sheila, was born and raised in the country, on a farm in North Dakota. The motto she lives by is “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.” She has two children Chris and Faith. Her husband Ray also spends time at the kennel doing renovations and maintenance work, taking care of the dogs and meeting clients as they drop off and pick up their pets. Her love of dogs is transparent as she has 5 of her own. Two have lost a leg, but they can run with the best of them. One is a rescue pit bull and another is a rescue Doberman. In addition to the 5 dogs, she rescued a 1 winged parrot and 3 cats. Sheila has a long time nursing background and is able to use that knowledge and assessment skills in working with and caring for your pet. Special needs and senior pet care available as well as respite care should your pet need extra TLC. The entire staff is experienced in pet care, are avid pet lovers and we have CPR trained personnel.
We are trained in positive pet reinforcement and look forward to your joining our family in allowing us to take care of your furry pets. Our goal is to help you with your pet when you need it for a day or just going on a fun filled vacation. We truly enjoy taking care of your wonderful pets, getting to know their personalities during their stay and just hanging out with them each and every day. You can count on us in knowing your pet is being well taken care of.
We are situated on an acre lot with a seasonal creek, with several large outdoor areas for your pet to run and play. We also have indoor/outdoor kennels available as well as dedicated indoor kennels for your small pets, special need pets and senior pets. Reservations are required, and all pets must be current on shots. We are also happy to feed special diets and medications per your pets’ normal schedule at no extra cost.

Greywood is family owned and not part of a chain or franchise. Our long time employees have seen puppies grow to adult dogs and truly know and genuinely care about your furry family member. Our goal is to make sure every pet who stays with us has a pleasant and fun experience and showing how much they loved it by coming back again and again and again.
Greywood donates part of their profit to different rescue groups. The owners are long time residents of Lakeside and are proud to be able to give back to local San Diego animal charities.

This is the kennel is amazing! We've been using Greywood for years and now with new owners it's even better! It's family run and they've made a lot of improvements inside for the pets. We drive out of the way just to use them. Their prices are excellent! So many places charge more and care less. In addition, to being a great kennel they really care about your pet like an extension of your family. Recently, while out of state on vacation our beloved lab became fatally sick. He was almost 16 years old and he had difficulty breathing and his back legs just couldn't support him. He was having accidents and couldn't even get up to eat (which was a tell tale sign). They took him to the vet on a Sunday and the doctor couldn't help him. The toughest decision we had to make was to put him out of his suffering. Sheila, the owner, never left his side! We'd FaceTime and talk to him at all hours. It wasn't until midnight when she finally headed home. She was amazing and supportive and went above and beyond. We loved this kennel before. Now they're our heros and made a horrible time in our lives more manageable by taking the best care of our dog! It was like having family watch him. Thank you to Greywood Kennels!

My dogs Stout and Stella love this place, they get excited when we drive into the parking lot, always happy and clean when we pick them up. Looks a lot better recently as the new owners have done a lot of upgrades. There is even a bull on the roof!! How cool is that!
Gives Stout his medication/shots without issues at no extra cost, which was harder then one might think to find a kennel willing and able to do this.
